“With God, creating a thing and forming it are two different processes. God is spirit and whatever He creates MUST first be in the realm of the spirit, before He gives it physical expression on the physical earth. The Hebrew word translated for create is ‘Bara’ while the word for form is ‘Yatsar’. Bara means to do something from nothing, while Yatsar is to give something shape. So, in Genesis 1:27 “God CREATED (Bara) man in his own image…” while in Genesis 2:7  “the LORD God FORMED (Yatsar) the man from the dust of the ground...”

Just as Adam after being created by God had to be formed in order to walk in his purpose on earth, today, every believer also has been ‘recreated’ in Christ, and is “a new creation…” (2 Corinthians 5:17), but being a new creation does not mean that we are ready to begin to fulfil our God-given purposes on the earth just yet, not until God has taken us through the process of character formation; speaking of spiritual maturity(Galatians 4:19)…”
